I have never been interested in the insanity of Black Friday – never. I don’t even really like shopping unless it involves yard sales & flea markets. Just thinking of waiting in endless lines and dealing with crankity people over a Black Friday Sale gives me hives. It just isn’t going to happen any day of the year for me, never mind on a day when my biggest goals include eating a left over hot dinner for lunch & a turkey sandwich with stuffing for dinner.
Now to make matters worse like that wasn’t enough, it infiltrates a holiday where the focus is supposed to be being thankful for what we have already, and our families. When hell freezes over will I go shopping on Thanksgiving! WHAT has happened to the sanctity of this American Holiday? It’s disgusting I tell ya, disgusting, and it is going to continue until we as a nation stand up and say “No!” to corporate greed.
I grew up in Massachusetts until I was 12 where the Blue Law restricts stupid business owners & managers from taking advantage of their employees. I’m not big on creating laws to control people lives but…people, we need a national law preventing businesses who have no social conscience to open on Thanksgiving & Christmas. That is the reality, and if it doesn't happen our grandchildren are going to only hear vague remembrances of the holiday which most of us truly treasure.
